Amman, July 26 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani
Mustafa and the Regional Director for Arab States at the United
Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Laila Bakr, on Sunday discussed
joint cooperation aspects in social fields.

In a meeting attended by the Fund’s representative in Jordan, Humair
Abdul Ghani, Bani Mustafa underscored importance of “close”
cooperation with UNFPA in several social areas and programs offered
to Jordan’s target groups.

She noted UNFPA’s “leading” role and technical support, particularly
in developing the National Multi-Sectoral Plan for Prevention and
Response in the areas of child protection, domestic violence, and
violence against women and girls for the years 2026–2030.

On its significance, she said this plan serves as a “key” national
framework for strengthening prevention and response efforts and
aligns with the National Social Protection Strategy (2025–2033).

Bani Mustafa referred to the ministry’s continued commitment to
strengthening its “strategic” partnership with UNFPA in supporting
Jordan’s national development agenda and social protection, which
would provide better services and programs for the most vulnerable
groups.

Regarding joint efforts related to programs and services for people
with disabilities, Bani Mustafa valued UNFPA’s support in enhancing
the national social protection and services system for the most
vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities.

As Chair of the 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers for
Social Affairs, Bani Mustafa also discussed the importance of
cooperation in social policies and multidimensional poverty through
the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS), which is
hosted by the Kingdom.

In turn, Bakr highlighted the progress made in Jordan’s social
protection system and the ministry’s achievements in implementing
national priorities, expressing her hope for developing avenues for
future cooperation and partnership.
