Southern Military Zone Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt Using Guided Balloons

Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) — The Southern Military Zone foiled an
attempt early Thursday to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics into
Jordan using guided balloons.

Border Guard forces detected the balloons as they attempted to cross
into Jordanian territory, intercepted and brought them down, and
seized the narcotics they were carrying.

The operation was conducted in coordination with military security
agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The seized drugs were
referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal action.

The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) stressed that Border Guard
forces will continue to confront smuggling attempts using various
methods and prevent narcotics from entering Jordanian territory.
