Amman, Sept. 14 (Petra) — Eastern Military Zone troops thwarted
three attempts to smuggle large quantities of drugs before dawn,
Monday, intercepting electronically guided balloons carrying the
narcotics across the border.
Border guard units, in coordination with military security agencies
and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected the balloons at multiple
locations, brought them down inside Jordanian territory and seized
the drug cargo, the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) said.
The drugs were referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
The JAF vowed it will continue confronting all smuggling and
infiltration attempts across the border with full force, tracking the
methods used to carry them out, and taking the necessary operational
measures to deal with them.
