Amman, Sept. 6 (Petra) — Three siblings were killed and their
parents injured Sunday after a fire swept through their apartment in
Zarqa Governorate, according to the Public Security Directorate
(PSD).
The PSD spokesperson said firefighting and ambulance crews from the
Zarqa Civil Defense Directorate rushed to the scene after the blaze
broke out in a fourth-floor apartment of a four-story residential
building.
The victims were a seven-month-old girl and two children aged four
and seven, who died after sustaining severe burns. Their parents
suffered burns of varying degrees as well as breathing difficulties.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and brought it under control,
while ambulance crews provided first aid to the injured before
transferring them to Zarqa Government Hospital, where they remain
under treatment. The children’s bodies were also taken to the
hospital.
Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of
the fire.
