Tourism Ministry, Jordanian Embassy in Tokyo Mark 80th Independence Anniversary

Tokyo, July 21 (Petra) — The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and
the Jordan Tourism Board, in cooperation with the Jordanian Embassy
in Tokyo, hosted a reception to mark the 80th anniversary of the
Kingdom’s independence and the national celebrations, bringing
together Japanese officials, diplomats, business representatives and
tourism stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Jordan’s Ambassador to Japan, Nasser Shraideh,
said the Kingdom has, under the Hashemite leadership, consolidated
its position over the past eight decades as a country characterized
by security, stability and development. He also highlighted the
longstanding relationship between Jordan and Japan and called for
continued cooperation across political, economic, social, scientific
and cultural fields.

The Japanese government was represented by Vice-Minister for Foreign
Affairs Yohei Onishi. The reception was also attended by senior
Japanese officials, members of the Japanese parliament,
representatives of investment and tourism companies, civil society
organizations, academic and media institutions, members of the
diplomatic corps accredited to Japan and members of the Jordanian
community.

The event featured presentations promoting Jordan’s tourism and
investment sectors, with a focus on the Kingdom’s archaeological and
historical sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, including
Petra and Wadi Rum, as well as the Dead Sea and the Baptism Site. The
presentations also highlighted Jordan’s offerings in adventure,
medical, wellness, religious and cultural tourism, supported by its
tourism infrastructure.

The Jordan Tourism Board also outlined its efforts to expand Jordan’s
presence in the Japanese market during a session attended by travel
agencies, tour operators and companies specializing in travel between
Japan and Jordan. The discussions focused on opportunities to
strengthen cooperation, expand travel programs and encourage more
Japanese visitors to the Kingdom.
