Amman, July 2 (Petra) — The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and the
Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) held discussions on
key challenges facing the tourism sector, as regional tensions
continue to weigh on travel activity and related industries.

The meeting reviewed the impact of recent developments on tourism
performance, including a slowdown in visitor activity, weaker
bookings, increased cancellation rates, and disruptions to air travel
in several markets.

ACC Chairman Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq said the chamber will take up the
sector’s concerns and engage with relevant stakeholders to help
ensure business continuity. He stressed the importance of closer
coordination between the public and private sectors to develop
practical solutions that support affected industries.

He added that the chamber plans to convene a wider meeting bringing
together tourism sector representatives and relevant stakeholders to
discuss actionable measures aimed at strengthening the sector’s
resilience and improving Jordan’s tourism competitiveness.

JITOA Chairman Nabih Riyal highlighted the importance of cooperation
with the Amman Chamber of Commerce, commending its efforts to elevate
sector issues and communicate them to decision-makers.

He said the association will develop a comprehensive marketing
strategy designed to complement existing initiatives and enhance
promotion of Jordan in international markets. The plan will be
submitted to the chamber for review and potential adoption, with
consideration of funding and implementation mechanisms in
coordination with partners.

Board members from both sides emphasized that tourism remains a vital
economic sector closely connected to trade, transport, hospitality,
and other service industries, calling for continued support across
all components of the sector.
