Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra) – The UN demanded “full” access across Gaza
on Tuesday for international investigators to gather evidence as
hundreds of bodies were recovered from the rubble.
In a statement, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk
warned that uncovering extensive human remains in Gaza City raises
new concerns over Israeli war crimes and atrocities.
Urging “immediate” access to safeguard evidence, Türk said Israel is
still blocking the heavy equipment required to safely dismantle
collapsed buildings.
Palestinian Civil Defense workers recovered more than 630 bodies and
scattered remains from collapsed buildings from November 2025 through
September 2026, according to the UN. Authorities estimate that more
than 8,000 people remain missing under the rubble across Gaza.
The agency’s request also follows continued military operations,
including an Israeli shooting that killed an elderly man in Jabalia.
