Washington, July 09 (QNA) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US President Donald Trump informed Congress of his intent to rescind Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism as part of a process that lasts for one year to normalize relations with the new Syrian government.
Rubio said that normalizing relations would unlock new prospects for international trade and investment, give Syria a chance to rebuild, and open a new chapter for the Syrian people.
The statement added that “a stable and unified Syria” that is at peace with itself and its neighbors benefits not only the region, but the entire world. (QNA)
