Damascus, February 23 (QNA) – Syrian internal security forces thwarted an armed attack on Monday targeting one of their checkpoints in the northeastern city of Raqqa.
The attack resulted in the death of four checkpoint personnel and the injury of two others, while one of the attackers was also killed.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement that security forces are currently combing the area to pursue those involved in the attack.
It noted that the incident marks the second attack targeting internal security forces in the region, after the same checkpoint came under assault on Sunday, resulting in the death of one of the attackers, in what authorities described as attempts to destabilize the area. (QNA)
