Amman, May 24 (Petra) –Employment Unit at the Amman Chamber of
Industry (ACI) held an awareness workshop on job opportunities for
persons with disabilities in the industrial sector.
The event came within the “Employment in Jordan 2030” (EJ2030)
project implemented by the German Agency for International
Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for
Economic Cooperation and Development.
According to a chamber statement on Sunday, the workshop, attended by
a “large” number of industrial companies’ representatives, aimed to
raise awareness of employment opportunities for persons with
disabilities in the industrial sector.
The sessions also eyed to highlight the role of relevant public and
private sector entities in facilitating this group’s integration into
the labor market, as well as training programs provided by civil
society organizations to support inclusion in the workforce.
The workshop featured several working sessions on hiring
opportunities for persons with disabilities in industry, presented by
a representative of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities.
It also saw a session on the Ministry of Labour’s role in recruiting
persons with disabilities, and another on training persons with
intellectual disabilities and integrating them into the labor market
through “job coach services”.
Meanwhile, Vocational Training Corporation engaged in in a session
on enhancing the inclusion of persons with disabilities in its
training programs.
The workshop reviewed success stories of employing persons with
disabilities in the industrial sector.
