Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra) – Agriculture Minister Saeb Khraisat and
Secretary-General Mohammad Hiyari inspected emergency field
operations in Jerash on Tuesday after multiple arson-suspected fires
broke out near Mount Troun.
Khraisat told Jordan News Agency (Petra) that joint emergency crews
contained the blazes, overcoming rugged terrain and scattered
hotspots through rapid field coordination.
Acting Jerash Governor Mohammad Awamreh reported that the fires
burned an estimated 10 dunams before emergency units contained the
scene. Cooling operations are currently underway to prevent
rekindling.
Khraisat promised swift legal action against anyone responsible for
setting fires in national forests.
Meanwhile, Awamreh urged citizens to practice safety in forested
areas, refrain from discarding lit materials, and immediately report
suspicious activity or fires to authorities.
