Amman, May 21 (Petra) — The Southern Military Zone on Thursday
foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using a
drone along its western front within its area of responsibility.
According to a statement issued by the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab
Army, border guard forces detected the drone during the early morning
hours before rules of engagement were applied in coordination with
military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The statement said the drone was intercepted and brought down inside
Jordanian territory, while the seized narcotics were transferred to
the relevant authorities for legal and investigative procedures.
The armed forces did not disclose further details regarding the
source of the drone or the type of narcotics involved.
