Amman, May 18 (Petra)– Secretary-General of the Ministry of Awqaf
and Islamic Affairs Ismail Al-Khatba, on Monday evening, participated
in the completion ceremony of the Holy Quran recital (Khatmah) at the
King Abdullah I Mosque. The event forms part of His Majesty King
Abdullah II’s Royal Khatmah Initiative of the Holy Quran.

Al-Khatba emphasized that the initiative, implemented by the ministry
in mosques across the Kingdom throughout the year, aims to strengthen
the religious and educational message of mosques. It encourages
worshippers to regularly recite and complete the Holy Quran by
organizing 12 complete recitals annually, averaging one completion
every month.

The mechanism of the initiative relies on reciting a quarter of a
Hizb (a traditional division of the Quran) after each daily prayer.
This systematic approach enables participants to complete the entire
Quran once a month under the direct supervision of qualified imams,
preachers, muezzins, and Quranic center supervisors.

The Secretary-General noted that these efforts contribute to reviving
the role of mosques in worship and education, deepening the
community’s connection to the Holy Book, and consolidating the values
of reflection and recitation among various segments of society. He
expressed his gratitude to all participants and organizers dedicated
to the success of this royal initiative.
