Chemotherapy Services Resume at Khartoum Oncology Hospital After More Than Three Years

Khartoum, March 7, 2026 (SUNA) – Chemotherapy services have resumed at Khartoum Hospital for Oncology, with the first chemotherapy dose administered inside the hospital on Saturday, marking the restoration of the service after a suspension lasting more than three years.The service resumed with full operational readiness at the hospital. The chemotherapy drugs are being prepared inside a fully sterilized Safety Cabinet, in accordance with approved medical requirements and standards, ensuring the safety of both patients and healthcare personnel.The service is being provided under the supervision of Professor Ahmed Omar Abdullah, Director-General of the hospital, with the participation of an integrated medical team comprising physicians, pharmacists, and nurses specializing in oncology treatment.The resumption of chemotherapy represents an important step in restoring therapeutic services at the hospital, following extensive efforts by the hospital administration to secure the necessary medicines and treatments and to prepare a suitable environment for delivering the service.Professor Ahmed Omar Abdullah affirmed that work will continue to develop and expand therapeutic services at the hospital, contributing to alleviating the suffering of cancer patients and providing them with medical care in a safe and integrated treatment environment.BH/BH
