Democratic Bloc Holds Expanded Leadership Meeting

Port Sudan, 2 March 2026 (SUNA) — The Democratic Bloc held today an expanded leadership meeting in Port Sudan, the capital of Red Sea State, with the participation of most of the bloc’s senior leaders. The discussions focused on the bloc’s bylaws and the development of its organizational structures as the country’s largest political coalition.Chairman of the Political Committee of the Bloc and Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minawi, praised the significant role of the press and media in conveying the bloc’s activities to citizens. Speaking to reporters at the Marina Hotel in Port Sudan after the meeting, he said the current focus is on organizing the internal structure of the Democratic Bloc.Dr. Abdel Aziz Osher, a member of the bloc’s leadership, said that the three-day meetings addressed fundamental amendments to the bloc’s bylaws. He confirmed that the new system regulates internal relations and defines the responsibilities of leadership bodies, which include the Leadership Council, the Presidential Council, and the Leadership Committee.Osher also revealed the establishment of extensive specialized sectors covering political affairs, foreign relations, professionals, regional affairs, economy, legal affairs, peace and displaced persons, culture and media, and women’s affairs. These sectors branch into approximately 25 secretariats to ensure coverage of all national and humanitarian issues.Meanwhile, bloc leader Al‑Amin Dawood described the meeting as “foundational and expanded,” noting that the drafting of the “expanded bylaws” aims to accommodate forces currently within the bloc as well as those that may join in the future.
