Economic Development Sector Reviews Priority Projects for the Ministries of Trade, Industry and Minerals

Khartoum, March 8, 2026 (SUNA) – The Economic Development Sector of the Council of Ministers reviewed priority projects for 2026–2027 during its meeting on Sunday, chaired by Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim.The sector discussed projects proposed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, including the establishment of integrated complexes for vegetable oil production in states with a comparative advantage in oilseed crops. The complexes are intended to serve as a nucleus for rebuilding the food-processing industry and increasing the value added of agricultural products.The projects also include the establishment of animal product complexes, the creation of a national clothing incubator, and initiatives aimed at generating sustainable employment opportunities for youth in the states.The meeting further reviewed projects of the Ministry of Minerals, including geological surveys and mineral exploration, as well as the establishment of a database to help regulate work in the mining sector.It also discussed the Red Sea Treasures Project, which aims to exploit mineral resources in Sudan’s waters in support of the national economy.BH/BH
