Amman, July 22 (Petra) – Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman
visited Dar Al Dawa Development & Investment Co. to review the
pharmaceutical manufacturer’s environmental initiatives, highlighting
the role of private-sector investment in advancing the country’s
sustainability agenda and strengthening cooperation between
government and industry.

During the visit, Suleiman was introduced to a range of projects
designed to reduce the company’s environmental footprint. These
include comprehensive recycling programs, the treatment and reuse of
industrial wastewater, and the replacement of diesel with cleaner
liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as part of efforts to cut greenhouse
gas emissions and improve operational efficiency.

The minister also inaugurated new green spaces within the company’s
premises, an initiative aimed at promoting biodiversity and fostering
greater environmental awareness among employees while reinforcing the
company’s long-term commitment to sustainable business practices.

Suleiman praised Dar Al Dawa’s environmental strategy, describing it
as an example of how Jordanian manufacturers can integrate
sustainability into their operations while contributing to the
Kingdom’s broader environmental and economic development goals.

Dar Al Dawa Chief Executive Officer Khaled Harb said environmental
stewardship has become a core element of the company’s business
strategy, with continued investments focused on improving resource
efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of its manufacturing
operations.

Among the company’s key achievements, Harb said Dar Al Dawa treats
around 15,000 cubic meters of industrial wastewater each year,
roughly 50 to 60 cubic meters daily, which is subsequently reused to
irrigate forest trees. The company also recycles approximately 200
tonnes of waste annually and operates 2,500 solar panels with a
combined capacity of nearly 1 megawatt, supplying about 20% of its
electricity needs.

Both the Ministry of Environment and Dar Al Dawa reaffirmed their
commitment to expanding cooperation to encourage wider adoption of
sustainable technologies and environmental best practices across
Jordan’s pharmaceutical sector, supporting the country’s vision for a
more resilient, competitive, and environmentally responsible
industrial base.
