Amman, May 19 (Petra) — The Ministry of Environment on Tuesday
signed two separate agreements with the Islamic Scientific College
Alumni Association and Al Ameed coffee company to strengthen national
efforts supporting environmental sustainability, public cleanliness,
recycling initiatives, and community participation.

The first agreement, signed with the Islamic Educational College
Alumni Club through its “An Hour Makes a Difference” volunteering
initiative, aims to unify national efforts in support of
environmental action and implement programs focused on cleanliness
and reducing indiscriminate waste disposal.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman
and Chairperson of the club Abdul Rahim Baqai as part of efforts to
reinforce volunteerism, sustainable development concepts, and
cooperation between official institutions and civil society
organizations.

Suleiman said the ministry places significant importance on
strengthening partnerships with community organizations and national
initiatives, stressing that environmental protection and public
cleanliness are shared responsibilities requiring coordinated efforts
among all sectors.

He said the agreement represents a practical model for cooperation
between official and community institutions to enhance environmental
awareness, promote volunteer culture, and support implementation of
the national cleanliness strategy through broader youth and community
engagement.

The minister added that the ministry continues to support initiatives
aimed at encouraging positive environmental behavior and increasing
public awareness in ways that contribute to improving quality of life
and advancing sustainable development goals.

The second agreement, signed with Al Ameed, falls within the
executive program of the National Cleanliness and Anti-Indiscriminate
Waste Dumping Strategy and seeks to strengthen cooperation on
environmental awareness campaigns and sustainability initiatives
across the Kingdom.

The partnership includes implementing joint awareness campaigns,
distributing reusable cloth and vehicle bags, installing recycling
bins at the company’s branches, printing environmental messages on
packaging materials, and using QR codes to provide educational
environmental content to consumers.

Suleiman said partnerships with the private sector are essential to
supporting national environmental objectives and promoting
sustainable development.

Managing Partner of Al Ameed Basel Daher said the agreement reflects
the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental
responsibility through initiatives integrated into its operations.

He noted that the company recycles approximately 90 percent of
operational waste, including paper, plastic, cardboard, coffee
capsules, and coffee grounds, while converting organic waste into
agricultural compost and adopting biodegradable packaging materials.

Daher added that the initiative builds on the company’s broader
environmental and social responsibility efforts, including its
Guinness World Record achievement for creating the largest mosaic of
its 50th anniversary logo using recycled paper cups to raise
awareness about recycling and environmental conservation.
