Port Sudan, Jan. 24, 2025 (SUNA) – Head of the Arab Anti-Tobacco Federation Dr. Wael Tharwat warned of the growing dangers posed by tobacco and non-traditional tobacco products to children in Arab societies, calling for unified Arab efforts to sustain tobacco-control initiatives.Speaking on the sidelines of the “Tobacco Control Amid Wars and Crises” workshop, held as part of the federation’s fourth conference, he stressed the importance of strengthening youth awareness, addressing legislative challenges, and enhancing the media’s role in confronting the spread of these products.Meanwhile, Arab Anti-Tobacco Federation Member and Head of Iraq’s Anti-Tuberculosis Association Dr. Samir Al-Hilfi underscored the need to pressure health institutions to control all forms of tobacco, citing rising usage rates and their serious health and economic impacts on Arab societies.FA/BH
