Ramallah/occupied Jerusalem, May 24 (Petra) — Extremist Jewish
settlers and Israeli occupation forces on Sunday escalated attacks
across the occupied West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, including
smashing Palestinian vehicles, vandalizing property, storming Al-Aqsa
Mosque, and carrying out arrests, raids, and a home demolition west
of Ramallah.
Palestinian sources said settlers attacked the village of Majdal Bani
Fadel, south of Nablus, smashing two vehicles and slashing their
tires. They also vandalized, for the fifth time, the memorial of
martyr Suleiman Hathaleen and trees surrounding it in Masafer Yatta,
south of Hebron.
In occupied Jerusalem, 218 settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa
Mosque under the protection of Israeli police, carrying out
provocative tours and performing Talmudic rituals.
In a related development, Israeli occupation forces launched a
large-scale campaign of raids and arrests across the West Bank,
detaining 17 Palestinians. They also demolished a home in the town of
Shuqba, west of Ramallah.
According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Israeli
occupation authorities carried out 37 demolition operations in April,
targeting 78 Palestinian structures across several West Bank
governorates.
