Amman, May 21 (Petra) — A seminar on achieving health insurance
coverage across several countries in the region was held on the
sidelines of the World Health Conference in Geneva.
The seminar was held at the invitation of the Senate’s Chairman of
the Health, Environment and Population Committee, Yaseen Husban, who
is participating in the conference, according to a Senate statement
issued Thursday.
Husban said the Jordanian-invited seminar, which featured
participation from several countries including Syria and Türkiye,
aimed to address challenges facing the expansion of health insurance
systems in the region, particularly in relation to medicine prices
and treatment costs.
Talking at the event, he noted discussions also explored the
potential use of Islamic financial instruments and endowment funds
from donors to secure funding for healthcare services and treatment
for low-income and vulnerable groups, who are unable to afford
medical costs.
