Jordan, Pakistan Discuss Environmental Cooperation

Amman, May 20 (Petra) — Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman and
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Jordan, Khurram Sarfraz Khan, discussed on
Wednesday ways to enhance cooperation in the environmental field,
support sustainable development efforts, and address shared
environmental challenges.

During the meeting, Suleiman stressed the importance of expanding
cooperation with Pakistan and benefiting from environmental
protection expertise. He said the ministry is keen to build effective
partnerships with other countries in line with national priorities
and the Economic Modernization Vision.

The ambassador noted the “distinguished” relations between the two
countries, reiterating Pakistan’s interest in enhancing cooperation
with Jordan on environmental issues of mutual concern and exchanging
technical expertise and know-how to serve common interests.

The two sides agreed to forge ahead with signing a memorandum of
understanding between the Ministry of Environment and relevant
authorities in Pakistan to establish an institutional framework for
future cooperation in environmental fields and develop joint programs
and initiatives in the coming period.
