Amman, June 30 (Petra) — The Jordan Standards and Metrology
Organization (JSMO) and the Rwanda Standards Board (RSB) on Tuesday
signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation
in metrology, standards development, laboratory testing, conformity
assessment, and training in quality infrastructure.

The MoU aims to enhance technical cooperation between the two sides
and facilitate trade between Jordan and Rwanda by removing technical
barriers to trade and aligning technical procedures with
international standards and best practices.

According to a JSMO statement, the MoU provides for joint training
programs and capacity building in standardization, halal
certification, testing and metrology. It also covers cooperation to
strengthen mutual recognition of certificates of conformity and
quality marks to facilitate bilateral trade.

The MoU further includes cooperation to improve laboratory
capabilities, exchange technical expertise and conduct
interlaboratory comparisons to support product safety.

Acting Director General of the JSMO Wafaa Momani said the MoU marks
an important step toward expanding cooperation with African markets
and creating new opportunities for Jordanian exports through enhanced
mutual recognition of conformity certificates and the exchange of
expertise, with positive implications for trade and investment
between the two countries.

Momani said the JSMO will continue strengthening its international
partnerships to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian products and
reinforce the Kingdom’s position in regional and international
quality infrastructure systems.

The memorandum was signed as Rwanda continues to record sustained
economic growth and advances in its national quality infrastructure.
