Amman, July 29 (Petra) — Minister of Transport and Minister of
Labor, Nidal Katamine, has stressed that developing the Vocational
Training Corporation (VTC) is a national priority, directing its
executive management to accelerate the process of obtaining
international professional accreditations and certifications to
improve training quality and enhance graduates’ competitiveness in
the labour market.

Chairing a meeting of the VTC’s Board of Directors on Wednesday at
the corporation’s headquarters, attended by Director General Raafat
Al-Sawafin and board members, Katamine highlighted the importance of
attracting international expertise and drawing on global best
practices to modernize the vocational training system.

He said strengthening the corporation’s capabilities would enable it
to contribute to major national projects and investments by becoming
a key partner in preparing and qualifying the skilled workforce
required for those initiatives.

Katamine also stressed the need to base policymaking and
decision-making on studies, statistics and scientific analysis, while
establishing a comprehensive database and accurate performance
indicators to enable the corporation to respond effectively to labor
market needs.

He underscored the importance of expanding cooperation with the
industrial sector, benchmarking against leading vocational training
institutions, attracting international expertise and broadening
twinning programs with distinguished training institutions in Jordan
and abroad.

The minister further instructed the corporation to implement
specialized programs to develop its workforce and expand the use of
artificial intelligence in training programs, administration and data
analysis to improve institutional performance and service quality.

He said the next phase would include direct monitoring of the
implementation of these directives to strengthen the corporation’s
role in preparing national talent, enhancing the competitiveness of
Jordan’s economy, and meeting labor market demands in line with
international standards.

During the meeting, Al-Sawafin reviewed the corporation’s
achievements during the first half of the year, including performance
indicators, progress in implementing training programs, efforts to
modernize training institutes, expand partnerships with the private
sector, advance digital transformation projects, and improve the
quality of training services.
