Khartoum, Jan. 30, 2026 (SUNA) – The Board of Directors of the Sudanese Football Association for its fifth term held a periodic meeting on Friday at the Khartoum State Government Secretariat, chaired by President of the Association Dr. Mu’tassim Jaafar. The session was attended by Khartoum Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza, Federal Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ahmed Adam, and Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports Babiker Ali Yahya.The Wali of Khartoum described holding the meeting in the capital as symbolic of the city’s recovery, with sports at the forefront. He commended the Association for organizing leagues at all levels and maintaining external participation during the war, highlighting athletes’ support in stabilizing sports and facilitating the federal ministry’s return to Khartoum.The Federal Minister of Youth and Sports praised the coordination among sports institutions and the Association’s efforts in maintaining stadiums. He called on the Association to unite and formulate a vision to advance Sudan, emphasizing sports’ role in security, stability, and peace.Dr. Mu’tassim Jaafar affirmed the Association’s leadership in sports initiatives, noting its contribution to Sudan’s international profile. He compared the national team’s external participation to serving on the front lines and highlighted the Association’s role in honouring athletes who became martyrs, reflecting national respect and appreciation for their efforts.AS/BH
