Seoul, June 18 (QNA) – Seoul stocks crossed over another round-number milestone on Thursday, topping the 9,000-point mark, buoyed by semiconductors and other tech heavyweights.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) opened 1.19% higher than the previous session, reaching 8,969.90 points, before hitting a new record high of 9,000.68 points in the afternoon, with a gain of 1.54%.
It took less than a month for the index to top the new milestone, after breaking the 8,000-point mark on May 26.
The KOSPI broke above the 3,000 mark on June 20, 2025, and surpassed 4,000 points on Oct. 27, 2025. On Jan. 22, it hit 5,000 points and touched 6,000 points on Feb. 25. (QNA)
