Major US stock indexes close mixed as West Texas oil stabilizes

New York, May 18 (Petra) — Major United States stock market indexes
closed mixed on Monday, while the price of US benchmark West Texas
Intermediate (WTI) crude stabilized at 105.83 dollars per barrel.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 160 points to close at 49,686
points. However, the gains were insufficient to fully offset Friday’s
losses, which had exceeded 530 points.

Conversely, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 134 points
to finish at 26,090 points. Similarly, the broader S&P 500 Index
edged down by approximately 5 points, closing at 7,403 points.
