Port Sudan, Jan. 13, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Saif Al-Nasr Haroun inspected ongoing maintenance works on the alternative Al-Agaba Road in Red Sea State, accompanied by the Maintenance Director of the National Roads and Bridges Authority, Engineer Tarig Abu Amana.The minister directed that work continue without delay, underscoring the road’s economic importance and the need to secure required rehabilitation materials. He noted that Sudan’s recovery from the impacts of the war necessitates restoring key road networks to support economic revival, adding that the ministry is preparing plans to construct economically viable national roads across several states.Engineer Abu Amana said the old Al-Agaba Road spans 26 km, with maintenance completed up to 17 km and only a short section remaining. He affirmed that work is proceeding under a structured plan and timetable, highlighting the road’s role in facilitating goods movement and strengthening the national economy.AS/BH
