Khartoum, Jan. 22, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Transport Saif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun conducted an on-site inspection of Sudan Airways’ facilities at Khartoum Airport, alongside Head of the Mandated Committee Murtada Hassan Jumaa. The tour covered cargo warehouses, administrative buildings, engineering and maintenance hangars, ground equipment facilities, and catering units, to assess technical conditions and rehabilitation needs.The minister reviewed structural readiness and compliance with civil aviation standards, underscoring Sudan Airways’ historic role as a national symbol and the need to support its return to regional and international operations. He affirmed that rehabilitating service buildings, hangars, and warehouses is essential for airport licensing and operational continuity, and a core pillar of the airline’s reconstruction plan.In remarks to SUNA, the minister pledged to recover all rights of the national carrier and to pursue approval of the National Carrier Law, directing that all technical, administrative, financial, and legislative requirements be expedited to begin implementation. The mandated committee—formed by Director-General Captain Mazen Awad—said the visit was a key step toward accelerating rehabilitation and restoring facilities to national and international standards.FA/BH
