Port Sudan, Jan. 27, 2026 (SUNA) – The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Seif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun, met today in Port Sudan with the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, to explore ways of strengthening Sudan–Saudi cooperation in infrastructure and transport and supporting reconstruction of war-damaged facilities.The discussions focused on developing partnerships across maritime, land, and railway transport, ports, logistics zones, and civil aviation, as well as activating bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding and arranging joint ministerial committees between the two countries.Minister Seif Al-Nasr emphasized Sudan’s priority for Saudi companies to participate in reconstruction projects, particularly in railways and port development, while enhancing technical coordination and forming joint committees to facilitate project implementation.The meeting also highlighted opportunities for technical and investment cooperation with Saudi companies to develop Sudan Airways as part of the plan to rebuild the national carrier.Both sides agreed to organize a specialized workshop in February for Saudi firms interested in investing in Sudan’s infrastructure and transport sectors and to prepare for upcoming forums and conferences on reconstruction.The Minister praised Saudi Arabia’s supportive stance on Sudan’s unity and stability, while the Saudi Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to backing reconstruction efforts and encouraging Saudi investments in Sudan’s infrastructure and transport sectors.AS/BH
