Ministry of Finance Resumes Operations from Khartoum Headquarters

Khartoum, Jan. 16, 2026 (SUNA) – The Ministry of Finance has resumed operations from its headquarters in Khartoum State after activities were suspended due to the war, which prompted the relocation of the government’s headquarters to Port Sudan.The resumption coincides with the gradual return of federal ministries to Khartoum under a government plan aimed at rehabilitating infrastructure and restoring essential services for citizens.Mohamed Bashar, Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry, bid farewell to employees returning to Khartoum, affirming that the Ministry is continuing efforts to rehabilitate infrastructure and prepare conditions conducive to the return of citizens to their respective states.He added that the Ministry is covering the costs associated with preparing an appropriate environment for the return of both citizens and government institutions to Khartoum State, including the provision of essential services such as healthcare, environmental sanitation, drinking water, education, electricity, and the rehabilitation of main roads and bridges.FA/BH
