These talks took place on the sidelines of Talbi El Alami’s participation in the international forum on the future of the Mediterranean organized on the occasion of the Spanish presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM).
During his meeting with the President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, the two parties hailed the distinguished level of Moroccan-Spanish ties and discussed ways of further bolstering them, while stressing the importance of intensifying contacts and coordination between the two legislative institutions.
Talbi El Alami and Armengol also discussed the holding, as soon as possible, of the next session of the Morocco-Spain parliamentary forum, a forum for dialogue, consultation and exchange of experience on common issues such as climate change, emigration, infrastructure and hosting the 2030 World Cup.
In turn, talks with the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean focused on ways of promoting parliamentary cooperation in various fields. On this occasion, Suica praised the “strategic partnership” between Morocco and the European Union, describing the cooperation between Rabat and Brussels on migration issues as “exemplary”.
The International Forum on the Future of the Mediterranean, held in Granada on April 2-4, will be attended by speakers and vice-speakers of all PA-UfM member states’ parliaments, and will discuss four key issues: migration, climate change, youth employment and gender equality in the Mediterranean region.
