ABU DHABI, 17th October, 2023 (WAM) — Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, said that the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC) represents an ideal platform to enrich regional and international dialogue on the future of the economics of the media industry, opportunities and challenges, and the role of governments in facilitating a business environment supportive of the growth of this vital sector.
The Global Media Congress will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, from 14th to 16th November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Marri added that media industry is witnessing unprecedented growth driven by the great technological progress, making the entertainment and media industry one of the main economic sectors capable of providing new opportunities for growth, work and investment.
He said that the media industry in the UAE is one of the pillars of the national economy, as the country has made great strides to become a leading destination for media investments, by establishing specialised free zones and developing advanced digital infrastructure, along with the flexibility of legislation and economic policies, which enabled the country to host the regional headquarters of the most important media entities.
Al Marri pointed out that GMC’s first edition was a tangible success and witnessed a large international turnout from various media entities from around the world, wishing to have a new distinguished edition in 2023, which translates the major transformations that the global media industry is witnessing and its role in supporting the goals of sustainable development.
The Global Media Congress will have a wide variety of programmes and exhibitions, focusing on the most relevant issues related to the future of the media sector.
The three-day Congress is organised by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Under the slogan ‘Shaping the Future of the Media Industry’, the Congress will include a three-day conference with over 30 sessions in which globally prominent media leaders and scholars will discuss vital issues relevant to the industry.
The main themes that will be deliberated upon this year will include innovation, media education, sports journalism, environmental journalism and the role of the youth.
