New Zealand, March 28, 2026 (SUNA) – Acting Chargé d’Affaires to Australia Ahmed Salah Bayoumi recently met with Mr. Tim van de Molen, Chair of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee of the New Zealand Parliament, at Parliament headquarters.During the meeting, the two sides reviewed developments in Sudan, with particular focus on the Government of Hope’s peace initiative. The Committee Chair reaffirmed his country’s support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, and its rejection of any actions that undermine its territorial integrity.He also expressed hope that the coming period, following the government’s return to the capital, Khartoum, would witness greater stability.The meeting further addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in areas of mutual interest, foremost among them the agricultural sector. Both sides stressed the importance of benefiting from New Zealand’s advanced expertise in modern agricultural technologies and innovation.In this context, an invitation was extended to the embassy to participate in the annual Fieldays agricultural exhibition, the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, to explore the latest agricultural solutions and technologies.The meeting reflects both sides’ commitment to advancing bilateral relations and exploring practical opportunities to benefit from successful experiences, particularly New Zealand’s model in developing the agricultural sector through technology and innovation.BH/BH
