Dongola, Jan. 29, 2026 (SUNA) – The Acting Secretary of Social Affairs in Northern State, Muna Salah-Eddin Nugud, held an expanded meeting today with the Child Protection Officer from UNICEF Sudan to coordinate and follow up on child protection initiatives with relevant organizations.The Secretary-General of the State Council for Child Welfare, Fuad Abdullah, said the meeting focused on regulating the work of institutions supported by UNICEF in child protection. He noted that the delegation outlined plans to update the protection and coordination system, which has remained largely unchanged for over eighty years.Abdullah also briefed the delegation on the state of childhood in Northern State and existing partnerships with child-focused institutions. The discussion included progress on programmes for displaced children, including inspection visits to the Safe Spaces project and initiatives led by social researchers.AS/BH
