Strengthens Partnership with China’s Tsingshan to Localize Green Steel Industries
Beijing,
31 Dec 2025 (ONA) — Dr. Saleh Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of
Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry,
conducted an extensive field visit to the complexes of the “Tsingshan
Holding Group” in the People’s Republic of China.
This
visit serves to implement the objectives of the “Industrial Strategy
2040,” which aims to transform the manufacturing sector into a primary
driver of economic diversification. The visit activates the cooperation program
signed with the company in October 2025, seeking to accelerate the executive
steps for establishing the first integrated system for the green steel industry
and downstream industries in the Sultanate of Oman, thereby enhancing Oman’s
position as a leading global industrial hub.
The
tour included visits to the group’s lithium battery production and energy
storage system complexes, where the Undersecretary was briefed on the latest
smart production lines used by the company to supply global markets with
renewable energy solutions. This step reflects Oman’s desire to localize clean
energy supply chains, as battery technology is a fundamental pillar for
supporting green hydrogen projects and ensuring the sustainability of the
electrical grid, in addition to being an essential element in the future of the
electric vehicle industry targeted by the Industrial Strategy 2040.
The
Undersecretary and his accompanying delegation held a series of meetings with
the company’s Chairman and senior executives to review the master plan for
establishing an “Integrated Industrial City” in the Sultanate of
Oman. The two sides discussed the requirements needed to accelerate the
creation of this integrated industrial city to ensure the flow of finished
products, such as steel and batteries, to global markets with high
cost-competitiveness.
Abdulaziz
Ahmed Al Qasimi, Head of the Capital-Intensive Industries Section at the
Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, emphasized the
strategic importance of this cooperation. He explained that the integrated
industrial city project with the Tsingshan Holding Group represents a
cornerstone in the Ministry’s path toward modern and pioneering technologies
mandated by the Industrial Strategy 2040, which targets the transfer and
localization of advanced technology in two vital sectors: green steel and
energy storage. He added that the visit to the battery factories confirms the
integration of the Ministry’s vision, which seeks to merge the competitive
advantage of green hydrogen production with Fourth Industrial Revolution
technologies to produce high-value iron derivatives and smart energy solutions
for the aviation and automotive industries.
He
further stressed that the Ministry’s goal is to build an industrial ecosystem,
provide quality employment opportunities for national cadres, and raise the
sector’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product while maintaining a strict
commitment to carbon neutrality.
The
Chinese Tsingshan Holding Group is considered one of the largest industrial
institutions listed in the Fortune Global 500 and holds a leading global position
in stainless steel technology and renewable energy materials. The company’s
choice of the Sultanate of Oman as an investment destination reinforces Oman’s
status as a regional platform for green industries, particularly as the company
holds advanced patents in reducing carbon footprints, aligning with Oman Vision
2040 in achieving environmental sustainability and balanced economic growth.
