Amman, June 7 (Petra) — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has issued an
official communiqué declaring Tuesday, June 16, a public holiday to
mark the Hijri New Year.
The holiday, which coincides with the first day of Muharram 1448 AH,
applies to all ministries, government departments, public
institutions and agencies, public universities, municipalities, joint
services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and companies
fully owned by the government.
The communiqué excludes ministries, government departments, and
institutions whose work requires otherwise.
To mark the occasion, Hassan urged all ministries, government
departments, public institutions, and agencies to help highlight the
occasion in a manner befitting its significance.
