Moscow, February 25 (QNA) – The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has cautioned against the Arctic turning into a confrontation zone.
In remarks quoted by Russian media outlets, Director of the Department of European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Vladislav Maslennikov, said the Arctic is morphing into a new confrontation field due to the West, stressing that the situation there is unequivocally becoming more complicated.
Having been on the margin of decades-long geopolitical conflicts, the Arctic is losing its position as a calm region and is turning into a field for new confrontation, as well as a political and military impasse, Maslennikov warned.
Maslennikov further affirmed that Russia is open to collaborating with all partners who have good intentions, and this applies to the Western nations, including the United States.
He suggested that Russia acknowledges the importance of returning to balanced dialogue to explore solutions for the shared problems in the Arctic. (QNA)
