Moscow, October 18 (QNA) – Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced that Russian air defense units intercepted and destroyed about 200 Ukrainian drones that were heading toward the capital.
In a series of posts on Telegram, Sobyanin said that air defenses had destroyed 195 drones since midnight, adding that emergency response teams are currently inspecting the debris at the impact sites.
Meanwhile, Russia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, announced the suspension of flights at Moscow’s Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports.
While Russian air defense units frequently encounter drones targeting the capital and its surrounding regions, the involvement of such a large number of drones is unusual. (QNA)
