Sudanese Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Ali Al-Tom Presents Credentials to Nepalese President

Kathmandu (SUNA) – Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Ali Al-Tom, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, resident in New Delhi, on Wednesday presented his credentials to Nepalese President Ram Chandra Poudel during an official ceremony held at the President’s Office in the capital, Kathmandu. The ceremony was attended by a number of the president’s advisers on foreign affairs and communications, as well as the Chief of Army Staff. During a meeting with Ambassador Al-Tom following the presentation of credentials, President Poudel expressed his appreciation for Nepal’s relations with Sudan, describing them as longstanding ties established in 1969. He said Nepal looked forward to developing these relations to encompass additional areas of cooperation. The Nepalese president expressed hope that the ambassador’s tenure would see further efforts to strengthen and consolidate bilateral relations, affirming Nepal’s readiness to work with him towards that goal. For his part, Ambassador Al-Tom conveyed to President Poudel the greetings of General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC). He reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, describing them as longstanding relations founded on mutual respect and the shared aspirations of the two friendly peoples for peace, development and prosperity. The ambassador explained that the Government of Sudan shared President Poudel’s desire to develop and strengthen bilateral relations, expressing his readiness to work with the Nepalese government to achieve this objective. He affirmed that he would seek to broaden cooperation in areas of mutual interest and continue coordination and consultations between the two countries in international forums, in a manner that serves their common interests and supports cooperation among developing countries. Ambassador Al-Tom also conveyed the solidarity of the Government and people of Sudan with Nepal following the recent floods and landslides that had affected the country. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Nepal, wished the injured a speedy recovery, and expressed hope for the success of reconstruction efforts and the overcoming of the disaster’s consequences. In this regard, the ambassador noted that Sudan, which had experienced multiple humanitarian crises as a result of the foreign aggression it faces and the war imposed upon it, understood and appreciated the importance of support and solidarity from other countries during such difficult times. The ceremony in which the ambassador presented his credentials to the Nepalese president underscores Sudan’s interest in expanding its non-resident diplomatic representation, thereby opening broader prospects for cooperation and coordination on bilateral and international issues of mutual concern.BH/BH
