Khartoum, March 29, 2026 (SUNA) — Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Issmat Gurashi chaired a key meeting with the Ministry Undersecretary Engineer Daw Al-Bait Mansour and Director General of the General Authority for Irrigation and Excavation Works Engineer Al-Nour Suleiman Al-Mahi.The meeting reviewed preparations for the summer season, including the status of machinery, excavators, and dredgers designated for canal clearance, amid significant damage to the authority’s fleet caused by militia sabotage.Discussions also covered securing fuel supplies and required inputs for all irrigated projects, alongside an emergency intervention plan to ensure efficient operations.Participants also raised the needs of the Tokar project to protect the city from flooding and seasonal torrents, stressing the urgency of measures to safeguard lives and property.The meeting forms part of ongoing ministry efforts to improve water resource management and enhance the effectiveness of agricultural projects nationwide.BH/BH
