Abu Dhabi, May 19 (Petra) – The UAE’s air defence systems had
intercepted and neutralized six hostile drones over the past 48 hours
as they attempted to target civilian and vital facilities across the
country.
In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the
Ministry of Defence announced on Tuesday that the drones were
intercepted with a high level of readiness and efficiency, adding
that no casualties or damage to critical infrastructure were
reported.
As part of the ongoing investigation into the attack on the Barakah
Nuclear Power Plant two days ago, technical monitoring and tracking
operations revealed that two drones were intercepted, while a third
struck a generator located outside the plant’s perimeter.
The Ministry reaffirmed that the UAE reserves the right to take all
necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and national security
in accordance with international law and conventions.
